MANCHESTER UNITED are confident of their £100m world record bid for Paul Pogba this bid will knock Real Madrid out of the chase.

United’s vice chairman Ed Woodward has begun negotiations with Juventus to bring the 23-year-old back to Old Trafford four years after he left the club for free.

Real Madrid also want Pogba who was thought to favour a move to Spain because of former United boss Sir Alex Ferguson refused to sign a new deal with him in 2012 and walked out on a free transfer in 2012.

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is Pogba’s idol while the Spanish giants can offer Champions League football next season.

But the player has been impressed by Jose Mourinho’s determination to land him it is the possibility of a five-year contract worth £250,000 a week, which would triple as compare to Juves.

Former Arsenal and France star Thierry Henry believes Pogba would be Mourinho’s fourth and final signing of his first summer as United boss – can become “one of the best midfielders in history, he has the quality to do that”.

£100m fee would smash the current world record of £86m that Real Madrid paid for Gareth Bale in 2013.
