Portugal extends the contract with their Euro 2016’s winning Coach Fernando Santos until the next Euro 2020.
Portugal was unbeatable in last 14 matches after the Santos joined as a coach after the Brazil world cup 2014. They played few draw matches but no any loss.
In this Euro cup Portugal looks like they are more focused on their defense technique as they conside less goals in the tournament and played most extra time matches.
Eder was the unlikely hero in extra time at the Stade de France after Ronaldo had been substitute due to injury in first half of the match.
Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) confirmed: “The new deal between the FPF and Fernando Santos will be in force until Euro 2020, coinciding with the end of the mandate of the current Director of the Portuguese Football Federation.”
Santos took charge of the Portugal national team after their group-stage elimination at the 2014 World Cup under Paulo Bento.
